Remixing EVERYTHING

So I recently learned about remix culture, and how mixing pretty much any two things that already exist together can create something completely new. Up until about a week ago, I had thought remixes really only applied to music. So anyway, I created ten remixes of 3d objects so let's go through them!
Bear in mind most of these objects are 'sketches' and are mostly me just messing around with some crazy ideas. None are refined. I take no credit for the original objects used to remix these new objects.

So for this object, I thought it would be fun to mix an object used for battle with one used for the simple task of eating. A slight juxtaposition.

Again, making the bird the pirate switches the role and grabs your attention through juxtaposition. At least, that's what I was hoping for in this object.

Mostly just fooling around with whatever I could put on a teddy bears head. Seeing as it is the "poo" emoji, I thought it would be funny to make 'poobear".

Remixing these two objects creates yet another form of juxtaposition, as (for me) a palm tree reminds me of a key (small island). If you were stranded you would probably want an object such as a radio to contact anyone for rescue.

As I mentioned before, a LOT of experimenting here... I mostly just liked the idea of a big angry ogre in a sweet soft treat.

As you can see I was really fishing for ideas with this object... Sorry.

For this object, I was really just mixing a couple items with a common use to make it look more interesting.

When I saw the gnome I just had to use it with something, so the first thing I thought of was a garden, and then next in line after that was obviously flowers. So I put a flower in his head, it could probably be used as a flower pot, though I'm sure I'm not the first to think of something like this.

Now with this one I was stretching it a bit... I saw the gray texture of the elephant and it reminded me of the Nintendo gaming system from loooooong ago. So, I slapped the buttons on it!

Now for this object I won't lie, I really just wanted to put dollar signs on something. I was experimenting with a bike but maybe later something else will come to mind.

Well, there you have it, my first step into remix culture. I think it would be a lot of fun to keep coming up with ideas, and then using more advanced software to refine some of these into something that looks a little better, even throwing some textures in would make them a lot more pleasing to the eye.

OBDF Retro-Radio

In my 3D object design course I am taking in ACAD, I have been introduced to a browser-based software called Tinkercad. In this program, I've designed an old school radio I've come to call OBDF Retro-Radio.
.
This radio was heavily inspired by the work of Dieter Rams, (in his time with Braun)  in the documentary Objectified. The radios turntables and all reminded me of an older and more simplified style.
Creating most of the shapes took some time and a fair amount of work, as Tinkercad is a very simplified and beginner friendly program. But hours of fighting through the monotony of creating SLIGHTLY different objects than the ones provided, I was able to finish off my radio in a favorable fashion.

Not all aspects of the OBDF Retro-Radio are perfected for use, it is more of an artistic concept that if engineered, could be used functionally. However, a few parts have been added (such as the power supply and the antenna) to give the illusion of a functioning radio.
Anyway, for my first shot using Tinkercad, I am quite happy with the result. However as I said before, it would be a lot of fun to flush out a lot more of the features to make this more practical. Possibly through the use of a more advanced program, but that will come!
